It can be said that there are more than three millennia the Korean people began to practice martial arts.

In 1966 General Choi Hong Hi International Taekwondo Federation creates - ITF.
In 1975 ends development of Hyongs Poomsae, Tuls new art.
On January 25, 1971, is elected president of the Korea Taekwondo Association
- KTA Mr.
Un Yong Kim.
Due to internal problems, General Choi, transfers the ITF headquarters to Montreal, Canada in 1973.
Was then created The World Taekwondo Federation - WTF, in order to reorganize the art world and seek recognition.
Chair the authority, unanimously elected Mr.
A Yong Kim.
Still happens in 1973 the first World Championship Taekwondo, with the participation of 200 athletes and 22 countries.
It was a decisive step for the dissemination worldwide.
Taekwondo took the rest of Asia in 1974, Europe and the Middle East in 1976, and in 1978 it was played at Pan American Games.
In 1979 came to Africa.
